NCT ID NCT06236633
First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests a new step before rectal cancer surgery: temporarily blocking the inferior mesenteric artery with a tiny coil. The goal is to see if this 'preconditioning' is safe and might reduce serious complications like leaks (fistulas) after surgery. About 30 adults with rectal cancer will take part. The approach aims to encourage the colon to grow extra blood vessels, improving healing.
