New botox-like shot could ease stroke arm stiffness
NCT ID NCT06584240
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new type of botulinum toxin injection (JHM03) in 84 adults with arm muscle stiffness after a stroke. The injection is given into the affected muscles to relax them and improve movement. Researchers measured safety and how well it worked compared to a placebo over 12 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
recombinant botulinum toxin type A (JHM03)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new treatment option to reduce arm muscle stiffness and improve daily function after stroke.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 84 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The effects are temporary and may not work for all patients.
