New light technology could help doctors spot Hard-to-Treat nasal polyps without surgery

NCT ID NCT07125586

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests a new, non-invasive device that uses safe light to quickly identify a hard-to-treat type of nasal polyp (eosinophilic) before surgery. Current methods require tissue removal after surgery to diagnose this subtype, which can delay proper treatment. The trial will enroll 353 adults with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps to see how accurate and safe the device is compared to standard lab tests.
