Heart risk under the knife: should cancer patients pause their blood pressure meds?
NCT ID NCT06862115
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study is testing whether pausing certain blood pressure medications (called RAS inhibitors) before major colorectal cancer surgery changes the risk of heart injury. About 156 adults with high blood pressure who are scheduled for this surgery will be randomly assigned to either stop their medication before surgery or continue it. The main goal is to see if stopping the medication is just as safe as continuing it, measured by heart damage markers in the blood 48 hours after surgery.
