Hospital emergency team showdown: can a smaller crew save just as many lives?

NCT ID NCT04507737

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at two different kinds of rapid response teams that help patients who suddenly get worse in the hospital. One team has an intensive care doctor and nurse plus a ward doctor and nurse. The other team has an intensive care nurse and a ward doctor and nurse, but no intensive care doctor. The goal is to see if the smaller team works just as well at preventing deaths, cardiac arrests, and unplanned ICU stays. About 1,500 adult hospital patients will take part.
