New combo imaging method aims to speed up pneumonia diagnosis

NCT ID NCT07308340

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at 400 people with severe pneumonia to see if using a bronchoscopy (a camera in the lungs) together with a CT scan can find the infection-causing germ more accurately than a CT scan alone. Researchers will compare the results of both methods to the standard lab tests. The goal is to help doctors choose the best imaging approach for faster, more precise treatment.
