Do you really need a numbing shot for hemorrhoid radiofrequency? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT05519189
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looked at whether numbing the area around the anus (perianal infiltration) is necessary before using radiofrequency to treat hemorrhoids. 134 adults having the procedure were split into two groups: one got the numbing shot, the other did not. The main goal was to see if skipping the shot led to more pain afterward. The results could help make the procedure simpler and avoid risks from the numbing medicine.
