Race against time: new drug tested to stop deadly rabies
NCT ID NCT03961555
Summary
This study tested a new drug, SYN023, to see if it works as well as the standard treatment to prevent rabies in people recently bitten or scratched by a potentially rabid animal. It involved 448 adults who received the treatment within 54 hours of exposure, along with a rabies vaccine. The goal was to see if the new drug could be a safe and effective alternative for post-exposure prevention.
