Knee angle test may spot injury risk in teen athletes

NCT ID NCT07605000

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 24 young female athletes to see if a simple measurement called the Q angle (taken while standing still) can predict how they land during sports. The goal was to find an easy way to screen for injury risk. Researchers measured the Q angle and compared it to landing mechanics using video analysis.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help coaches and trainers use a simple static measurement to identify athletes at higher risk for knee injuries during sports.

What could go wrong

This is a small, observational study with only 24 participants, so results may not apply to all athletes. It does not test any treatment or intervention.
