New heart surgery tool tested to zap irregular heartbeat

NCT ID NCT07410962

Summary

This early study is testing the safety and initial effectiveness of a new pulsed field ablation device used during heart surgery to treat atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat). The device delivers electrical pulses to create scar lines in the heart to block faulty electrical signals. The study will enroll 16 adults who are already scheduled for other heart surgeries, like valve repair or bypass, and follow them for 180 days to check for complications and see if their irregular heartbeat returns.
