Zapping away the cough: new trial tests electric therapy for COPD sufferers

Summary
This study is testing whether a new medical device can safely reduce the bothersome symptoms of chronic bronchitis in people with COPD. The device uses pulsed electric fields during a bronchoscopy procedure to target the airways. About 210 adult patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the real procedure or a sham (fake) procedure to compare results.
