Tooth temperature check: which enamel removal method is safest?

NCT ID NCT07391124

First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study measures how hot the inside of a tooth gets during different methods of removing a thin layer of enamel (called interproximal reduction). Researchers will test 40 teeth from people aged 12-25 who are already having teeth removed for braces. The goal is to find which technique causes the least temperature rise, since too much heat can damage the tooth nerve. This is an observational study, not a treatment.
