New hope for kids with devastating brain cancer: first safety trial of experimental drug
NCT ID NCT03605550
Summary
This study is testing the safety of a new oral drug called PTC596 (Unesbulin) when given alongside standard radiation therapy to children and young adults newly diagnosed with aggressive brain tumors, including a very hard-to-treat type called DIPG. The main goals are to find the safest dose and see how much of the drug gets into the blood and, for some patients, the tumor itself. This is an early-phase trial focused on safety and dosing, not proving the drug's effectiveness.
