First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This pilot study tested a brief online group program for first-time mothers to help them better understand their own and their baby's thoughts and feelings. Sixty-six women who were 1-5 months postpartum took part. The program involved four weekly 90-minute Zoom sessions with short home practices. Researchers measured changes in the mothers' ability to reflect on mental states, depressive symptoms, and emotional regulation. The goal is to see if this low-cost, telehealth approach can improve maternal mental health and parenting.
