Magic mushrooms vs ketamine: new battle in fight against alcohol addiction

Summary
This small pilot study compares two different psychedelic-assisted therapies for alcohol use disorder. Twenty men with moderate to severe alcohol problems will receive either psilocybin (from magic mushrooms) or ketamine alongside psychotherapy sessions. Researchers will measure changes in drinking patterns and brain activity to see which approach shows more promise for helping people reduce alcohol use.
