First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether adding psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) to standard talk therapy helps veterans reduce or stop methamphetamine use. Thirty veterans with moderate to severe methamphetamine use disorder will receive either psilocybin-enhanced psychotherapy or usual care. The main goals are to see if the treatment is acceptable and safe, not yet to prove it works.
