Magic mushroom therapy shows promise in curbing alcohol addiction
NCT ID NCT05416229
Summary
This study tested whether a single high dose of psilocybin, the active compound in 'magic mushrooms,' given alongside psychological therapy, could help people with alcohol use disorder drink less. Sixty Danish participants were randomly assigned to receive either psilocybin or a placebo, with neither they nor the researchers knowing which one they got. The main goal was to see if the treatment reduced the number of heavy drinking days over 12 weeks.
