Magic mushroom drug tested as potential lifeline for severe anorexia

NCT ID NCT07169747

Summary

This study is testing if psilocybin, the active compound in 'magic mushrooms,' given with psychological support, can help treat anorexia nervosa. It will involve 40 young adults (ages 16-35) with anorexia. Researchers will compare the effects of two psilocybin sessions plus therapy to standard treatment alone to see if it's safe and helps reduce symptoms.
