Scientists scan brains to unlock psychedelic vision secrets

NCT ID NCT05265546

Summary

This UC Berkeley study aims to understand how psilocybin (the active compound in 'magic mushrooms') changes visual perception and brain activity. Researchers will use MRI brain scans on 80 healthy volunteers while they view images and receive different doses of psilocybin. The study focuses on measuring brain responses rather than treating any medical condition, seeking to map which brain areas are involved in psychedelic visual experiences.
