Could your own blood ease your thumb arthritis?

NCT ID NCT07491302

Summary

This study is testing whether injections of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) — made from a person's own blood — can reduce pain and improve hand function in adults with thumb base osteoarthritis. Researchers will compare PRP injections to placebo saline injections in 88 participants who haven't gotten enough relief from standard treatments like hand therapy or splints. Participants will receive one injection and be followed for a year to see if PRP provides lasting pain relief and better thumb movement.
