Advanced cancer trial tests if proton therapy reduces harsh side effects

NCT ID NCT07340515

Summary

This study is testing whether a newer type of radiation called proton therapy causes fewer severe side effects than standard photon radiation for people with advanced nasopharyngeal cancer. All 300 participants will receive chemotherapy and immunotherapy, then be randomly assigned to receive either proton or photon radiation. The main goals are to see which treatment causes fewer serious side effects and which better controls the cancer over three years.
