Slim down without sacrificing muscle? a protein supplement may help
NCT ID NCT07772908
First seen Aug 19, 2026 · Last updated Aug 20, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether a daily protein supplement, combined with resistance training, can prevent muscle loss during weight loss. Healthy adults aged 25 to 60 will follow a four-month program with clinical assessments, proper nutrition, and physical activity. Researchers will measure changes in fat-free mass to see if the supplement helps preserve muscle while shedding pounds.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A protein supplement taken once daily, combined with resistance training
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this approach could help people lose weight while preserving muscle mass, supporting healthier aging and long-term metabolic health.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is small and early, and results may not apply to everyone. The supplement's benefit over placebo is unproven, and individual responses can vary.
