Veggie protein and weights: a recipe for stronger ageing?
NCT ID NCT06172725
First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a high-protein vegetarian diet, combined with resistance exercise, can help older adults maintain muscle mass as well as a meat-based diet. 110 healthy people aged 55 and older followed a 12-week program of either a vegetarian or omnivorous high-protein diet, plus strength training. Researchers measured changes in protein intake and muscle mass to see if plant-based proteins can support active ageing.
