Army scientists test protein doses to fight muscle wasting from injury
NCT ID NCT07069426
Summary
This study aims to find the best amount of protein to help prevent muscle loss when a leg is immobilized after an injury. Healthy, active adults will have one leg immobilized for five days and then drink a protein shake containing either 20 or 40 grams of protein. Researchers will measure how well the muscle builds protein in the immobilized leg compared to the active leg to see which dose works better.
