Protein shakes and gym sessions: the new prescription after weight loss surgery?
NCT ID NCT07156552
Summary
This study is testing if adding daily protein supplements and a weekly supervised strength training session to standard care helps people keep more muscle after bariatric surgery. About 400 patients scheduled for surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care alone or standard care plus the extra protein and exercise. The goal is to see if this combined approach prevents the excessive muscle loss that affects roughly 1 in 5 patients after this type of surgery.
