Protein precision: could lean body mass dosing save more lives in the ICU?
NCT ID NCT07312708
First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looks at whether calculating protein needs based on lean body mass (instead of total body weight) helps critically ill patients in the ICU keep their muscle and recover better. About 620 adults will be observed, with half receiving protein based on actual weight and half based on fat-free mass. Researchers will track survival, hospital stay length, and muscle changes to see which method works best.
