New trial: can hormone pills boost targeted cancer therapy?
NCT ID NCT06654336
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is for men whose prostate cancer has come back in a few spots after radiation, but is still hormone-sensitive. Researchers want to see if adding a 12-month course of hormone therapy (ELIGARD) to targeted treatments like radiation or surgery helps keep the cancer from growing longer than targeted treatment alone. About 162 men will take part and be followed for 3 years.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ELIGARD (hormone therapy) and radiation or surgery
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that adding short-term hormone therapy to targeted treatment delays cancer progression in men with early recurrent prostate cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 2 trial with only 162 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Hormone therapy can cause side effects like hot flashes and fatigue, and the benefit over targeted treatment alone is not yet proven.
