New study compares two biopsy methods to reduce infections in prostate cancer diagnosis
NCT ID NCT05763355
First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at 101 men with suspected prostate cancer to compare two biopsy methods: the usual transrectal approach (through the rectum) and the transperineal approach (through the skin between the scrotum and anus). The goal was to see which method causes fewer infections and less bleeding. The transperineal route may also help find tumors in the front of the prostate more easily.
