First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether taking propranolol, a drug usually used for high blood pressure, soon after a sexual assault can prevent post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). 34 adult women will receive either propranolol or a placebo for 10 days, then a lower dose for another 14 days. Researchers will check for PTSD symptoms after 5 weeks using a standard interview.
