Face-Down donors could boost lung transplant supply

NCT ID NCT07251777

Summary

This study tested if placing potential organ donors in a face-down (prone) position helps preserve more of their lungs for transplantation. Researchers compared this approach to the standard face-up position in over 250 donors across Argentina. The goal was to see if this simple change in care could increase the number of lungs that are healthy enough to save a recipient's life.
