NCT ID NCT06919913

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking probiotics alongside standard treatment can improve immune markers and recovery in people with a prosthetic joint infection (PJI) after hip or knee replacement. About 152 adults aged 18-90 who are scheduled for surgery and antibiotics will be randomly assigned to receive either probiotics or a placebo. Researchers will track blood markers, complications, and patient-reported outcomes to see if probiotics help control the infection and improve quality of life.
