Probiotics may reduce crying in colicky babies

NCT ID NCT05271747

First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tested whether a mix of two probiotics (Bifidobacterium Longum and Pediococcus pentosaceus) could reduce crying and fussing in babies with colic. It included 112 healthy infants aged 2 to 12 weeks who were diagnosed with colic. The babies took the probiotics for 21 days, and parents tracked crying, fussing, and other symptoms. The goal was to see if the probiotics helped and if feeding type (breast milk or formula) made a difference.
