First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a unique probiotic called Streptococcus thermophilus FX856 can reduce gut inflammation and stomach problems in people who are overweight or obese. About 100 adults with a BMI of 25 or higher (and age 40+) or BMI 30+ (age 18+) will take the probiotic and a placebo in a crossover design. The goal is to see if this probiotic can lower a marker of gut inflammation (calprotectin) and improve digestive symptoms.
