Gut bacteria tested to halt Kids' spine curving
NCT ID NCT07466511
Summary
This study is testing whether a daily probiotic supplement, Bifidobacterium breve, can slow down or prevent the worsening of spinal curvature in children with idiopathic scoliosis. About 100 children, aged 6 to 15, will take the probiotic or follow only lifestyle advice for 6 months, with their spine curvature tracked for at least 2 years. Researchers are exploring this approach because children with scoliosis often have different gut bacteria, and correcting this might help control the condition.
