Scientists test 'Good Bacteria' cream to repair skin damaged by obesity

NCT ID NCT07266532

Summary

This study tested whether applying a cream containing a specific 'good' bacteria (Lactobacillus crispatus) to the skin could help repair skin barrier damage linked to obesity. For four weeks, 98 adults with a higher body mass index (BMI) applied either the active probiotic cream or a placebo cream to their forearms. Researchers measured changes in skin water loss, hydration, and signs of irritation to see if the probiotic treatment was safe and effective.
