Can a daily probiotic pill stop repeat bladder infections?

NCT ID NCT03366077

Summary

This study tested whether taking a daily probiotic supplement could help prevent future urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women who get them frequently. 140 adult women who had just finished antibiotic treatment for a UTI were randomly assigned to take either the probiotic or a placebo pill for three months, and were followed for another three months. The main goal was to see if the probiotic group had fewer confirmed UTIs over six months compared to the placebo group.
