First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a daily probiotic supplement (Lactobacillus reuteri) could help prevent repeat urinary tract infections (UTIs) in adult women who had recently finished antibiotic treatment for a UTI. A total of 140 women with a history of recurrent UTIs took either the probiotic or a placebo for six months. The goal was to see if the probiotic reduced the number of confirmed UTIs compared to the placebo.
