Gut health for hardened arteries? probiotic tested in kidney patients
NCT ID NCT07260682
Summary
This study tested whether a daily probiotic supplement could slow the progression of vascular calcification (hardening of blood vessels) in people with moderate to severe chronic kidney disease. Over 6 months, researchers compared changes in blood vessel health, kidney function, and inflammation markers between participants taking the probiotic and those who did not. The goal was to see if improving gut health could help manage a serious complication of kidney disease.
