Could a probiotic help unborn babies grow?
NCT ID NCT06817031
Summary
This study is testing whether a probiotic called VE818 can reduce harmful bacteria in the gut and improve nutrient absorption in pregnant women. It aims to see if this helps prevent a gut condition linked to poor growth in babies, which can lead to childhood stunting. The trial involves 144 pregnant women in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Zambia, and Burkina Faso who will receive either the probiotic, a placebo, or no intervention.
