First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a device called PrismaLung+ that removes carbon dioxide from the blood, allowing doctors to use gentler breathing machine settings to help lungs heal. It included 63 adults with mild to moderate acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) who were already on a ventilator. The main goals were to see if the device could safely enable ultra-protective lung ventilation and to track any side effects like bleeding.
