Own blood product tested to fight knee numbness after surgery

NCT ID NCT07257666

Summary

This study tested whether applying a patient's own concentrated blood product (platelet-rich fibrin or PRF) to the surgical site could reduce numbness around the knee after ACL reconstruction surgery. It involved 53 competitively active male athletes who had surgery using a tendon graft from their own knee. Researchers compared those who received PRF during surgery to those who had standard care, checking for numbness and knee function over 12 months.
