First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested whether a substance made from a patient's own blood, called platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), can help regrow gum and bone tissue damaged by periodontitis. Sixty adults with gum disease received either standard surgery or surgery plus PRF. Researchers measured changes in gum pocket depth and bone levels over six months to see if PRF improves healing and tissue regeneration.
