New screening could stop dangerous pregnancy condition before it starts
NCT ID NCT07485140
First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study aims to see if a new first-trimester screening program can better identify pregnant women at high risk for preeclampsia—a condition causing high blood pressure that can harm both mother and baby. Up to 80,000 pregnant women in Denmark will be screened, and those found at high risk will be offered daily low-dose aspirin to prevent the condition. Researchers will compare rates of preterm preeclampsia before and after the program is introduced to see if it works in real-world care.
