Doctors test two Infection-Fighting strategies for Kids' kidney stone surgery

NCT ID NCT07229755

Summary

This study compared two approaches to prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs) in children after a kidney stone removal procedure called flexible ureteroscopy. Researchers tested whether giving preventive antibiotics worked better than using enhanced sterile techniques and careful monitoring. The trial involved 140 children aged 4 to 14 years who had kidney stones and were undergoing this surgery.
