First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested two methods to reduce the burning pain people often feel when getting propofol, a common anesthesia drug. 180 adults having planned surgery were randomly assigned to receive either propofol alone, propofol mixed with lidocaine, or a brief lidocaine Bier block before propofol. The goal was to see which approach best prevented injection pain.
