First seen Apr 08, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests a new way to prevent permanent low parathyroid hormone after thyroid surgery. Surgeons will inject mashed parathyroid tissue into the forearm muscle of 100 adults during their thyroid operation. The goal is to see if this simple injection can produce enough hormone to keep calcium levels normal, avoiding the need for lifelong calcium and vitamin D supplements.
