Heart drug gel tested to stop dangerous procedure complication
NCT ID NCT07083063
Summary
This study is testing if applying a nitroglycerin gel directly to a small muscle during a common bile duct procedure (ERCP) can prevent a painful and sometimes severe complication called pancreatitis. The trial will involve 440 adult patients who need the procedure to remove bile duct stones. Patients will be randomly assigned to receive either the nitroglycerin gel or standard care to see if the gel reduces the rate or severity of post-procedure pancreatitis.
