Simple pill vs. complex stent: race to stop dangerous procedure complication
NCT ID NCT07117318
Summary
This study aims to prevent pancreatitis, a painful and serious complication that can occur after a common gallbladder/bile duct procedure called ERCP. Researchers are comparing a simple, safe method (a rectal NSAID suppository) against a more complex method that adds a temporary pancreatic stent. They want to see if the simpler method works just as well for certain high-risk patients, potentially making prevention easier and safer.
