Simple IV fluid strategy tested to stop dangerous ERCP complication
NCT ID NCT07417020
Summary
This study tested whether giving patients more intravenous fluids during and after an ERCP procedure could prevent a painful complication called pancreatitis. Researchers compared a standard fluid amount to an 'aggressive' higher amount in 126 adults undergoing their first ERCP for bile duct problems. The goal was to see if the extra hydration safely reduced pancreas inflammation, pain, and hospital stays.
