Simple breathing exercises may cut lung risks after liver surgery

Summary
This study tests whether a short, easy breathing exercise program before and after laparoscopic liver surgery can prevent lung complications like pneumonia. About 364 adults having planned laparoscopic liver surgery will be randomly assigned to either the breathing program or standard care. The program includes deep breathing and a simple device for 10 minutes twice a day for a week before and after surgery.
